A velvet dense silver coat, seductively soft and gently – this is a kind of contact that can take you away from everyday life and stress to the wide Archangels’ Russian width.  Deep green eyes with the colour of jadeite and sight that touches your heart and soul… Yes, these are adorable Russian blue cats, pets of tsars, royalty and nobility, always loyal, sharing everything with their house holders, even death when they were executed together with noble families by the Red Army.  

A little is known about the origin of the Russian blue. But for sure, she is not an artificial breed, but existed in the nature, and characteristics that she is known for, are later on created by the selective breeding. It is confirmed that she was the most favourable pet of the English queen Victoria and Russian tsars who adored this tsarina among cats. Her ascenders lived in the North Russian port of Archangelsk: uniformly blue, strong, healthy and resistible they attracted English sailors to take them back home. She is one of the very first breeds shown at the exhibition – in the Crystal Palace of London in 1875, when she was presented as “Archangelsk cat”.

Russian blue cat is recognizable by its dense silver double coat that is so soft and resembles velvet when you touch it. Her wide, distinctive green eyes with penetrating gaze are irrisistible. Intensely smart and vivid this cat will be your faithful companion. She is known as one of the most intelligent cats. She is not so territorial, she is attached to you, not the house or apartment, so that she can travel with you and adapt easily to the new environment - her home is where you are. She is very attached to people, but, also, sufficiently independent to accustom to the contemporary way of human life – although she will miss you when you are away busy with everyday obligations, she will meet you with love and devotion. Russian blue is a quit cat, suitable for apartments (this breed should live only in the household and not let outdoors). She vocalizes only when she has something to tell you. Her positive influence to people is so noticeable, that some says that having Russian blue is also salutary.

With her beautiful character, appearance and temperament, graciousness, faithfulness and intelligence she has deserved the number one place in the lives of many poets and sovereigns.
